Baptisms and Training

Hello Family and friends.

So I forgot my planner again, we were planning on going to down town Cleveland to take some photos so I didn't take it. But I can tell you what's coming up.

Michelle and Eric Washington are being baptized by Elder Talbot on the 29th, Whoop! And I will be confirming them on that Sunday. So super sweet.

Assa is Still doing awesome. He is still on date for the 5th and that's be awesome too.

But Elder Wotring is getting transferred. And I am Getting a Brand new Greenie from the MTC. So this will be some fun transfers. The poor Elder is going to the best area ever, and he's getting 2 back to back baptisms. He's going to feel so different in another area. But I will love him to death. It's going to be super fun. I love this Gospel. and I know as we use it and live it, breath it. Have us become part of the Gospel, we are happy. and Life is pretty good. Not easy just good. and there is always good and better days in the OCM. Wish me luck with the new guy.

Farewells, Homecomings, Surgery, Moving

Hi Elder Bubba,
How goes it?  Good remembering!  So are you getting transferred?  Make sure you include your new address if you do get transferred.  Ship your things to Bobwhite.  We are scheduling to move August 5.  (I will notify the mission office.) So there is time.  Any ideas on Birthday gifts yet?
What is the latest on the investigators?  How are things going with your companion?I'm excited to hear how Assa is doing.  I need to remember to pray for Ashley so she can get to church.
Lots of mission sacrament meetings.  McKay is leaving to Japan this week.  Austin got home and reported from South Korea.  They both spoke and did great.  I believe Riley and Sarah Heiner report next week and Sara Larsen the following week.
Seth and Papa got through the week at Lake Powell. They had over 30 people so it was interesting. The group also ignored my suggested menus and brought in a chef.  Seth and Nicholas about died, two nights without meat.  They had arugula every night. Took Papa forever to get home for all the pit stops! Too much fiber.
Grammy's surgery went well.  She is actually feeling much better.  She is eating better. She is moving around more although slowly.  She will need to keep the drains in her chest in until she sees the doctor again on the 31st.  Getting stronger everyday.
Moving news: We feel good about the date of August 5. Seth is going to hook up the dryer so no plumber. Jame and Seth are both off today so we are going to go find the kitchen items today.  Yeah!  I found a table, chairs, and china hutch and they will be delivered on August 3rd. I need to go find a desk and maybe an armoire to store my sewing stuff.  The wifi is on and strong. Hahaha. Its coming...  Scary but good.  The Spirit is comforting all along the way.  So no holiday for us today just need to find our kitchen.
I'm praying for you always.  I love you and I'm proud of you.  Be cool as in not overheated.😜
Love you tons!
Hurrah for Israel!

To Mama:
I'm doing more than great, I'm getting more and more assignments now. I am training now so this will be a fun couple of transfers. I'm going to stay here so don't worry. You don't have to spend to much for my birthday. The new rim was pretty expensive. Eric and Michelle are getting baptized this week. and Assa the following. so everything is awesome here. Me and Elder Wotring are doing fine. he's going home so he doesn't really care. I didn't know Mckay got a call!!!! that's awesome if you see him tell hime good luck. and if you can get me his email that would be awesome too.

Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in the lake....

Hello Family and Friends

There are so many referrals here.... We honestly received 7 notifications for Bibles and Book of Mormons this week we can't keep up.

Wednesday, We had an awesome lesson with Assa, we taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and he loved it, we got to talking to him about church, turns out they met at his house.... he was pretty much a bishop. So awesome.

Thursday, our Ward mission leader got assigned to be the mission medical coordinator as well so he had a meeting in the morning and we had an appointment that he wanted to go to. And President Brown's meetings usually go over a bit, we were tempted to call him and say we need our member back... We didn't but it turned out fine. We went to Ashley. She still doesn't have Sundays off, but she's working on it still. She's doing awesome as well. She recommitted to studying more. It was perfect. After her, we had a lunch with a member at the hospital, we walk in and 2 people walk up to us and say how is it going elders... so of course we started talking, ones a member the other is investigating they moved up to Ohio so we got they're address and set them up, he asked me for advice to join the church other then reading the Book of Mormon and I said read the Book of Mormon. After that we did referrals like most nights.

Friday, we had interviews with president. That was fun, I hope that district meeting went good. They usually don't say anything. no news is good news right? After that we forgot our work bags at home and the meeting went late, so we didn't have the bus schedules, so we watched our bus fly by and we walked a lot in our suits, in Ohio, in Cleveland, next to the lake. pretty much in the lake cause it's so humid. super fun. but hey we got food from a member. This area feeds us all the time.

Saturday was exchanges for a bit we had some good fun, we visited someone in the hospital. and He loved model trains. and i thought Fritz loves train too ( member in Wooster ) so I asked and before I could say anything he called him and I talked to Fritz for a bit. It was fun.

Sunday was busy like always, we went to family ward, then a bible referral then YSA branch then dinner then a referral then home. no breaks at all.

Monday we saw Ashley again, she's still doing great. We started teaching an investigator that moved in. President asked us to baptize him as soon as possible so we taught him and his wife all of lesson 4,( commandments ) and it went pretty good. After that a member asked us to teach him to dedicate his home. It was kinda cool. So we taught him, he said a nice prayer, he asked for the spirit to dwell at his home then he gave his full address. the digits, the road, the city the state the country the world the solar system..... what ever works I guess.. he is a funny guy though.

Tuesday. We did some referrals in the morning and we taught Eric and Machele all of lesson 5, so that they are ready for Saturday. But Eric has to be interviewed by president so it'll be the next week but it's pretty awesome.

It's just been a crazy week of working hard. I have never been so tired ( or sweaty ) in my life and I love this work.

PS. So you know that song, How can I be? played on the ukulele, It was made here in the OCM by Elder Stukki and Elder Fifi.

Hi Elder Beus,
How is this week going? Great stories about Assa!  That would be wonderful if he would become a member.  Eric sounds funny.  Talk faster...😉 Hopefully Ashley can switch her schedule.  A home environment is huge.  I hope to do better on that.  How is Elder Wotring doing?  What did you do to celebrate his birthday?  Speaking of which, you have a birthday coming up, what would you like?  Did your last box arrive?  Did you take time to read the papers?
Seth and Papa are gone to Lake Powell.  I haven't heard anything so I hope everything is going well.  It has been a strange week.  Very quiet for me.  Grammy still spends most of her day in her room so its just Molly and me hanging out in this great big house.  We are great buddies!  Grammy goes in for surgery on Friday, please remember her in your prayers.  She asked that Kelly stay with her during the surgery.  My assignment is to pick her up on Saturday.  Papa will be home Saturday evening to watch over her that first night.
The new washer, dryer and freezer came to the new house.  I need to call a plumber to attach the dryer, it's gas.  I also had the floors cleaned.  The carpet in the great room will need to be replaced and the other rooms will need to be resized.  They have waves in them but they are in good shape.  I'm not doing very well on organizing yet.  The crates are just too heavy for me so James and Seth will help me next week. I'm going shopping for a table and chairs and desk on Friday.
I was released from my calling on Sunday.  They called Lisa Bradshaw to replace me.  She will do wonderful. I went on my last Relief Society visit last night. I need to orient Lisa on the 26th and that should be the end.  I've started doing some indexing to take up my I'm too tired to move time.
I'm hanging in there and looking forward.  I hope you are doing well.  I love you and I'm very proud of you, your Heavenly Father is also.  Keep on keeping on.
Love you tons!
Hurrah for Israel!

Eli: This week has been a hard week to work, it is hot here. Elder Wotring is doing great, he has a couple boxes packed. I packed one some clothes I'm not weird neither do i want to throw them away so if i can get the address to the new house that would be great, or should i ship to ogden. I have no Idea what i'll want for my birthday, i did get the last box the apricots were a hit.. I loved them. I read them they're pretty cute. And just a reminder to let the mission know about the move.

Hi Sweetheart,
How goes it?  I'm so glad you are enjoying this area.  I'm assuming that you didn't get transferred.    Tell me about any new investigators.  Any more blessings that you have given?  We didn't hear about your new companion. Could you send us a picture too?  It is nice when everyone is working together.  You didn't really tell me what you needed in your box.  I know a journal but what else?  I talked with Bishop Browning and you are welcome to report at the Forest Green Ward if you would like.  I do need to transfer your records though so I still have access to paying the monthly mission amount.
We are having very strange days.  We are surrounded by boxes and can't move any of them because we don't close until Thursday.  I begin preparations for a colonoscopy on Thursday afternoon for Friday so I won't be going to the closing.  Seth has a huge YSA activity on Saturday.  I just hope we can get the storage unit emptied this weekend.  Maybe we can get in by August 1st. We went through Dad's old items.  We found a few things that you might like and saved them for you.  Seth took a few.  James wasn't really interested.  It makes me a bit sad; sorting and discarding everything. I think it is good though.  I think James' is all packed now.  We can pack your room next.  I think I would like to get rid of a bunch of your DS games.  What do you think?  I will also get rid of any unused notebooks.  I'm lightening up on the teen books too.  Any requests to make sure I keep?  Jame wanted Bartimeus Trilogy and Seth wanted the Eragon Series.  They thought you may be fond of the FableHaven Series...
We have a big appointment for Grammy tomorrow.  We get the results of the PET scan.  We need some more information on how many more treatments.  She has been sick for months. We are praying for peace and guidance.
Seems like alot and nothing going on at once.  SO strange.
Please remember that we love you.  I know that at times things are difficult for you.  Please know that I pray for you morning, noon, and night.  Your Savior is on your side.  Keep your thoughts high.  I love you and I know that your Heavenly Father loves you.  Keep up the great work.  We are proud of you!
Love you tons!!
Hurrah for Israel!

I'm doing great mama, I haven't had to give any blessings yet. Elder Wotring is my new companion, He's from surprise Arizona, He's super smart, he got accepted to Harvard.   I need a Journal, I still want those stories from our ancestors, I'll need medicine soon, And i forgot my Pin so maybe you can write a note and send it in the mail. I can't think of anything else fro a box..... Keep FableHaven, Oh and if you can fit, don't trash dads couch. The problem is it's been 8 months since i've seen what we have so i'm not to much help to remember. If all else fails, and you're not sure, Take a photo, and trash it. As long as i have a photo i can still remember it

"my heart is now at peace"

Hello Family and Friends.

Well It's been so much fun this past week. So much actually that i forgot my planner to tell you what happened.. whoops

Our investigators are doing so awesome though. Assa came to church, we had to pick him up from his house and show him the bus route he would have to take to get to the church. Sadly we were a bit to late but we got him there. After ward he had to go home early cause of paper work he had to sign. But he said " my heart is now at peace" he was so happy to go to church. It built my testimony of going to church. We talked to him for as bit after and He talked about how in the refugee camp he was in there was no church building and they met at someones house. They would go every week. Him his wife and his 5 kids. He had 2 more then we thought. But he is such a strong man in the gospel, It's amazing. And on the way home we talked about the Word of Wisdom, which he already knew about and is living.

Eric our other investigator is a frustrating man. He was a referral from the shaker ward he moved into our ward, he is totally a man from Ohio, He doesn't stop talking.... Ever.... It's so hard to teach him lessons. But he has a testimony and wants to come closer to God so that's good. we just can't get the off switch some times.

Ashley our Recent Convert is so awesome. We taught her the Gospel of Jesus Christ and she talked about how she wants to come to church more. And for some reason her job has here working Sunday but not Saturday so she'll see if she can get it switched.

This area is amazing. Theres so many people who could use the Gospel. If they had the curage and the drive to do it. There is some members her called the Johnsons, who preach about making sure that you make your home a place you want to live at. There home is beautiful, and all of there neighbors ask them how they do it. And they say we took the time. So their neighbors now take the time to Beautify there homes, And that is what the Gospel is like we just need to take the time. Make sure that we feel loved and safe and secured.

The Corn Grows...

Hi Elder Bubba,
I've been missing you lots this week.  It has been a difficult week.  It is the oddest thing, once people realize you are leaving they are nice to you...  What's up with that!
I've been thinking about your busing.  Are you contacting while busing?  Could make for some interesting conversations.  Help pass the time.  You probably know this...How is Elder Wotring? Feeling better?  I'm sure you are doing a great job as District Leader!  Eli, you have very good leadership skills.  You have some great experience, think band and 1st Assistant.  I liked your apartment pictures.  Those beds are tight.  Hope no one snores or gets up in the night.  I didn't recognize your bedding. Did you have to add a blanket? How are Ashley and Assa progressing? How did the referrals from last Tuesday go?  Any investigators?
I've been busy but nothing fun really.  Grammy had her appointment and will be having a double mastectomy on Friday the 21st.  She wanted it sooner but Papa needs to be home to help.
I had my colonoscopy/endoscopy last Friday.  I get so sick with the preparation.  It takes me days to feel better.  It went fine though.  I did have one small polyp which he removed and told me to come back in five years.  I was hoping for ten years. I also went to see Jotham's dad just for a female exam.  I still have blood tests and Dr. Gray to go then I'm finished for awhile.
We closed on the house on Thursday and settled and took possession on Friday.  Saturday was crazy.  I cleaned the church and went shopping and went to get apricots in Brigham with Papa and Seth did his big Young Adult Causey Excursion.  He didn't have very good turn out.  We were both exhausted so nothing more happened on the house.  Monday evening, David and Maurine and the Belnap Family came and helped us move out of the storage unit!  I'm so very grateful!! I can't believe it!  That is finally over!📣  I've gotten all of the utilities switched over except the trash.  Maritza and I will go clean tomorrow and the floors will be cleaned on Tuesday.  I can start sorting all the storage in the garage.  I need to tell you, I'm getting rid of lots of old things.  It is so freeing not to have to deal with everything.  I think you will like it.    I still need table and chairs and office/craft type furniture.  Maybe I'll get to that in a week or so.  I'm still not sure when I should leave.  I guess that is up to how is Grammy feeling.
I'm being released Sunday from my calling but they still want me to come to meetings and visits. Bizarre.
I'm hanging in there and hope you are doing the same.  I know things can be difficult for you.  You are learning and growing and changing your life.  Your Heavenly Father loves you and is making you into the son he knows you can be. Be patient and kind to yourself as you grow.  You love you.  You are an amazing young man.
I love you dearly son.  I'm so proud of you!
Hurrah for Israel!

PS Did the box come? Carefully check the papers inside the journal.  😉

We don't really contact while busing, We see the same people a lot on the buses. Elder Wotring is turning 20 today, he is still working hard till the end so we are getting along just fine. My bedding is the one with the trucks.... Ashley and Assa are doing so good, It is amazing how devoted to the gospel the already are. The box has not arrived yet... but i'm sure it'll come soon. That is still so crazy that we moved out of Ogden. It feels like we have been there for ever.

Down to 40 Referals

Hello Family and Friends, It's been super awesome in Cleveland Ohio.

Wednesday, ended with us going to a Member Meal, then we had a lesson with Ashley, She is so sweet, we took a member with us, and we didn't ask if he could drive us home.... so we started walking, we got home a bit late... whoops. Our Zone Leaders were kind enough to pick us up so we weren't to late.

Thursday, We had a member feed us again ( we get feed all the time it's wonderful) but she took us to a greek place. the gyro we had was huge. it was like 3 in one. It even took me a while to finish. Then the rest of the day was full of us trying to do the things we planned but it didn't work our like most days.

Friday we got dumped on. It was just flooded every where, we saw this car with water up to it's was crazy. we helped 2 people move it was super fun. just drenched and tired.

Saturday. we  got some stuff done we did like 3 referals and got them off our list. we are down to like 40 now whoop. We can almost have them on one sheet of paper.

Sunday was pretty weird, we had a person show up to the church, cvause he wanted a Book of mormon, so we taught him, and he said all of the right things, and all of the right questions. he brought up that after reading the book he would be baptised. so we were creeped out a bit. to bad he doesn't live in our area, but we totally think he's a spy from the church to see how well we teach. our he's just that awesome.

Monday was another district meeting. i'm getting better at them. there not as weird, and I can open up on my comments, and everyone else talkes a lot more now too. Our neighbor gave us some cupcakes too for th 4th of July so we had to our do her. so we made her a cookie sheet. with 50 stars and 9 strips. She lives on her own, so not sure how she is going to eat all of that....

Tuesday we got even more referals done, and i am so tired frm doing it we biked so much. so much infact that i bent my rear axle... (sorry mom i gotta buy a new one) but we have our new bus passes and we can ride as many as we want. we get our moneys worth fast

A quick update on Investigators, we are currently teaching 2 immigrants. One is Demble, he is from Africa, he speaks french, and he loves learning about the gospel. The other is Assa, He is also from Africa, he speaks Swahili, and his family is back in Africa, He has a wonderful testimony already, he's just starting from no where so he is busy all the time. We are also teaching Eric and his wife from the shaker Heights ward, they moved into our area, we haven't taught them yet but they are interesting and we'll see.
